V-Tool Sharpening: A Link to a Link

Bob Easton’s latest blog entry includes a link to master woodcarver Chris Pye’s 102 page eBook: Selecting and Sharpening Your V-Tool. Pye’s comprehensive yet easy-to-understand step-by-step instructions for sharpening these tricky but essential tools is free to download (.pdf) but Mr. Pye asks that you make a donation to charity on his behalf. His favorite is Amnesty International but leaves that decision up to you.

As I was researching carving tool-sharpening for The Perfect Edge, I consulted Paul Reiber who highly recommended Chris Pye’s Woodcarving: Tools, Material & Equipment, Volume 1. A phenomenal resource about carving in general and sharpening of carving tools specifically. Excellent work from one of our finest artisans. (ISBN 978-1861082015 — try your local bookseller first, please)

My thanks to Bob Easton for this link and for his blog in general. Good work!
